What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and emphasises the flow of energy (Qi) through meridians in the body. Blockages or imbalances in Qi are believed to cause physical or emotional discomfort and Shiatsu aims to restore balance to promote overall wellbeing.
How It Works:
- Assessment: The practitioner assesses the clients physical and energetic condition through observation, touch and dialogue
- Pressure Application: Steady, rhythmic pressure is applied to speciifc points on the body, following the meridians
- Stretching and Manipulation: Gentle stretches, rotations and joint mobilisations may be used to improve flexibility and circulation
- Energy Balancing: The goal is to harmonise the body’s energy flow, promote relaxation and self healing
